Am I the only person who did not know that American hostels are nothing like European ones? As opposed to being full of travelers like European hostels, this was full of people going nowhere fast - old drunk geezers with no teeth who smoked like chimneys, and the rooms reeked of smoke, as well as anything you had with you in the room, your clothes, etc. They may or may not close the door to the communal bathroom when they use it. They may bump into you when you walk down the hallway, because they are so drunk they cannot walk straight.
The area of town is very dodgy, and I was incredibly relieved to find my car intact each morning. If you are a light sleeper there is also a lot of noise from the street, as well as hacking of fellow "guests" throughout the night.
The manager is friendly and accomodating, and the room and bathrooms were clean. I did have to kill a large bug (cockroach?) going down my wall the first night. I would not stay there again - frankly I would rather sleep in my car...
I believe the ad said child and pet friendly. I would not have either in this hostel.
