He constantly walks around telling people to be quiet, turning down the tv without asking those who are watching, and telling people to pick things up and put them away. He seems to be somewhat mentally unstable, and his presence makes staying in this hostel unpleasant. He is the reason I rate Staff as Very Poor, the actual manager and his wife or girlfriend are very very nice people. close

I ... more I booked this place off of your website with the belief that you would have quality places, I was extremely wrong in this case. I unfortunately did not see the rating on the Bent Prop Inn until after the experience was over.
Through talking to locals I found out this was not a good part of town and I can admit I felt uncomfortable when I drove up. I paid upfront like told to but really should have checked out the room first. I had a very hard time locking the door to the room because the cover plate wasn't screwed in and after inspection found that it couldn't be screwed in. There was urine in the toliet which made the entire place stink. I had read on the site that it came complete with linens but found no towels in the room and only the bottom sheet on the bed with a very small blanket. At the time of my visit the nighttime temp. were in the upper 40's -low 50's, a small blanket would not have been adequate. Between the awful smell and being uncomfortable about the lock I decided it was not in my best interest to remain the night. I ended up staying in a hotel and losing $100 on the Bent Prop Inn. If it weren't for the wonderful stay at the Talkeetna Hostel I don't know if I would risk a hostel again. close
