The best hostel ever...
Exelent beds and kitchen with every stuff you need. Very clean and perfect bathrooms. Absouluty helpfull suff. Help us to find a campground after our stay in the hostel.
- Internet via Tomyzone 6 Dollar per 24 hours is a fair price.
- Free phone to Auckland availible.
- Quiet location, but not to far from the city (bus for 1,60 to Queensstreet).
- 24/7 foodtown 5 min. away.
Thanks very much for that.

We were double-booked at the City Garden Lodge and did not spend any part of the stay there. Ian, the owner did speak to another hostel owner and had alternate arrangement ready on our arrival - this inconvenience was highly unappreciated!
City International: The owner at the other hostel was not easy to contact, a lady at reception was far friendlier and helpful! However, we were settled in quickly and given options for stay.
The premises are secure, rooms could do with airing. less

The roof above my bed started leaking!! The room was very overpriced for what it was, if your flight is at a social time then stay in auckland and get the airport shuttle (my flight was early and i do appreciate that they will take you at any time) friendly people who run it but you are way too over priced for what you offer. slow internet too so your paying to wait for it to load less

This was our first hostel experience and we found Base very welcoming. It is in an ideal location, central to Auckland and not far from the bus terminal which came in handy. It is very large with many people in & out all the time with a strong party atmosphere where it is very easy to meet people. The attached bar, Globe was also very cheap to drink in. This is more for those wanting to have a good time rather than exchange information with other backpackers. The amenities were however very good less

In a pinch, yes I would stay there, but with a choice no! The staff never seemed as if they wanted to be there and we not at all helpful when asked questions. Globe bar downstairs is fun, but very noisy if you need to get a nights sleep. Given how widespread Base hostels are throughout Australia and New Zealand, you would think they could provide free wifi, if only for a certain amount of time per day. less
