I was looking for a quiet relaxing time, and Tropical Bali Hotel was exactly what I wanted and more. The place itself is perfect with so much attention to detail, great staff and the food is out of this world!
I guess that if you are looking for some big clubbing and drinking nights then this place isn't for you as it is very civilised and refined... and at a great price! less

Good, clean hotel with big rooms and decent rates (but must be booked ahead - far more expensive if you just walked in from the street).
Close to everything, the beach is about a 10/15 minute walk, but the hotel does provide a shuttle service.
Nice swimming pool area/bar with good happy hour drinks rates too. And the inclusive buffet breakfast was definitely a highlight. less

It really depends on what you are looking for, of course, but this was a very clean, comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. Nice pool, excellent spa facilities. It is about a fifteen to thirty minute walk from Kuta beach and the shopping malls in Kuta, enough off the beaten track to be quiet at night. The beach implied by the name of the hotel is a working beach for fishermen, abut 30 meters from the entrance of the hotel. It did not appear suitable for swimming, though it was a perfectly beautiful beach to stroll along. For the more intensive nightlife activity towards Legian you will need to take a taxi for about 25,000 rupia one way. For activities further out, rent a scooter through the hotel. less
