A very friendly hostel! The managers went out of their way to be helpful and organised a guide and taxi to the Broken Wall, and even came along to translate, when the Badaling Great Wall was closed for the Obama visit. It was very relaxing not having to travel to and from Beijing to see the Great Wall in a day and this Hostel had great character making the stay really enjoyable. A stay here should definitely include visits to both the Great Wall and the Broken Wall to see the contrast. less

There is only one word for this hostel - incredible! It is situated a 10 minute walk from the bottom of the badaling wall. It is a traditional courtyard and the rooms are decorated in a traditional style and spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to be the only ones staying and were invited to join the owners for their family dinner which was very special. You are treated more as a friend than a customer. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back! less

Had a great time staying here! Cozy hutong with adorable cats (love Xiao Bao!). A few minutes walk from the subway and just 2 bus stops from the main Xidan shopping district. Both Da Dong and Xiao Ma are extremely friendly and meticulous. The room I had is also clean and nicely decorated. Two thumbs up! (",) less

The owners/staff really makes you feel like part of the family. They are friendly and caring. Invited us to dine with them often, and are always ready to help out if you need it, whether it is by landing you a hot water bottle or a map or helping you catch a cab or practice your very limited chinese. I miss them terribly allready. Also, don't let the shower put you off at first, it doesn't look like much but it's hot and amazing, even when it's snowing outside. less

surprisingly modern. Prices of incidentals seemed expensive compared to other hostels but the friendliness of the staff (Dana in particular) made up for it. Not an incredibly social hostel, most people kept to themselves. Location was awesome for getting to the shops/sights but terrible when trying to get back as no taxis could find the place, even with the directions on the hostel business card. Would definitely stay again! less
