Carruth House was a delightful B&B set amongst sugar maple trees in an idyllic American setting. Our host, Heidi, was as charming as her B&B - full of warmth and character. Carruth House is a short T train ride away from the centre of Boston and the trains were always frequent so it made Ashmount and ideal setting for our stay in Boston. less

the kitchen is not really a nice place if you want to relax cause it's always crowded with people with their computer. it's more an internet place and not a kitchen. less

i've travelled around the world over the last 14 weeks and this has been, by far, the best hostel i've been in! not necessarily in terms of cleanliness or the state of the facilities (although these are above par compared to some places) but in terms of sheer fun - the manager is excellent and the hostel arranges free tours and activities for every day. awesome! less

If you are male I would not recommend this hostel as there are a lot of older female residents who resent male presence. My friend and I felt quite unwelcome on our floor. Not good for younger people although you cant beat the location. less

The staffs are kind, and the location is good, very close to the station. But wifi didn\'t work when I stayed, and if I wanted use internet, we still need to pay!! And I don\'t think the bed is clean, I was bited by fleas....the bathroom is too simple and crude. I don\'t think I will choose here next time. less

The rooms are very small and they kind of look like prison cells. My friend stayed in a different room from mine and he had some issues with the heater, fridge, window screen, and room lamp. It's not the worst hostel on the planet but you get what you pay for it. less

When I book a hostel I do not expect first-class accommodation, but this place is very poor. No soap and hand towels in the bathrooms, carpets have not been cleaned for ages. Staff cleaning the bedrooms did not even knock at the door before entering; dirty fridge. Too expensive as nothing except the bed is offered. less

This hostel was somewhat depressing. The staff was dreary, the beds were those plastic cushion uncomfortable mess, and there was no activities/character as far as I could tell. I'm sure this was a more lively hostel years ago, but has since quickly went downhill. less

I liked this little hostel! It wasn´t in the city centre, but it was easy to get there by bus and metro. The rooms were small but clean and we had a nice bathroom in our room of 6 people. The linen, towels and the use of internet was free and staff was friendly. It was also nice to see the neighbourhood and live in a "traditional" house (Prescott is the second oldest hostel in Boston area, by the way!). I would definitely go again, it wasn´t luxus but it was comfy! :) less
