awesome hostel!!! Tim is really kind and just an all around great guy. it feels like you are just a guest staying at his home. the nightly pub crawl is pretty cool. rooms are very clean, the place is very charming, and the staff are really cool too. pretty easy to meet people but only minor thing is that because itś such close quarters, it can be slightly cliquey and feel like high school at times, but i was still lucky and met some great people. overall, highly recommended! less

This has been by far the best guesthouse I have ever stayed in. When we arrived, Andreas welcomed us and helped us get acquainted with Budapest by pointing out all of the great sights to see and the hidden gems on the map he provided. It was an extremely relaxing atmosphere where everyone was very friendly. We kept calling it home throughout our stay. The decor is quirky, but it's cute in it's own way. We even watched movies on the projector in the common area while sipping tea. less

Our stay in Budapest was absolutely brilliant, in part because of the excellent Peppermint Hostel and Hyun, the owner. His generosity and friendliness was second to none, helping us with any questions far beyond our expectations. To say the hostel is clean is an understatement, and the kitchen, lounge and shower facilities were of hotel standard. The bed was extremely comfortable, and despite being in a central position, there were no noise problems at all. Highly recommended. less

This was proably the best hostel i have ever stayed in. it was small enough to be really cosy, the staff were amazing. i had so much fun there. only trouble was that it was hard to go out and see the city becasue it was so nice to be rugged up on the couch watching movies all day. i did little to no sightseeing and had a marvellous time. Hostel was in a great location in a cool old building with a lot of character. Staff was pretty helpful in giving touring advice and suggestions. Kitchen was a bit messy and smelled strongly of smoke (people were allowed to smoke inside- if you don't like smoke you may not want to stay here). Common room had a great movie and book selection and one of the comfiest couches ever. Beds were not as comfortable. Overall, a pretty good stay. less

I had such a great time at Thumbs Up - I wasnt sure how long I would stay initially and ended up staying 5 nights -but I would happily have stayed longer. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and if you're lucky they'll take you on a pub crawl. The one issue is queuing for the bathroom and more bathrooms are being added so there really is nothing I could fault about the place! less
