plastic mattresses and air con in the rooms that could freeze a penguin. watch out for the doors to the rooms - there is no way you can ever shut this thing quietly. considering darwin is a party town the hostel was really quiet when it came to getting a good night's sleep. apart from niggly things it was top! less

I had verry low expectations coming to Darwin having heard that most hostels were below standard but I was more than pleasently surprised. The Dingo is a great place to relax after sweaty days exploring the top end of Australia. The Pool in the courtyard is a welcome plus and the large outdoor kitchen is well equipped for a hostel, the vibe is friendly and verry communal. The laundy facilitys are FREE. Would absolutley stay again. less

Pretty basic, 4-bed dorm quite cramped but lockers provided (with your own lock of course). Can be noisy at night due to the layout and proximity of the bars opposite, but that's going to be true of any of the hostels this central. On the up-side, the spa area is quite nice and the staff are friendly. less

The cavenagh is not as bad as the reviews show. We stayed there twice (august and october). But you have to be lucky with your room. Our first room was dirty and the aircon was very loud (broken?) so we asked if we could move room. The girl at the reception was very nice and it was no problem!!! Pool is great! Kitchen average.
Negative: We wanted to extand our stay and were promised to get a bed but had to wait two more days to book. then it was full! finally we could stay - unnecessary shock!! less
