A fantastic hostel; definitely the best Galway has to offer, and perhaps even the best in Ireland. Lovely staff, very clean, very hospitable and good guests. The rooms also have thick walls, so despite there being no curfew there is no loud noise from guests coming in late! less

Barnacles was great; good location, right in the middle of the city, good staff with recommendations on what to do. A weird but nice building full of stairs. Only problem was a lack of hot water at peak times (mornings/late afternoons), but that's to be expected in a place with dozens of rooms. less

The whole place is shiney and new! + nice and clean! (although you do need to squeggy after your own shower) The shower was warm but never hot. Breakfast = bread. Free foxtel and wifi was great. Great location. We had to pay €10 for 24hours of parking. less

We were basically the only people staying therel. Everyone else was living there full time and they had no lives and they were scary and dirty. They didn't work and they just sat around in the lounge eating and watching tv all day. The rooms were tiny and the bathrooms were dirty. You got yelled at if you spoke in the halls after 11 by people who had to get up to do nothing in the morning. They locked the kitchen and lounge at night so you're constrained to your 3rd class Titanic sized room less

the afternoon staff was rude and stupid and the treatment received was really disagreeable. there is a 3 am curfew and later on you are locked outside. the toilets weren't as clean as they should be even considering the king of accomodation it was. I have been in lots of hostels and this was one of the worse. less
