The lakeside inn is the perfect place to stay in. Lulu and staff were really helpful and didn't put any pressure on us to book tours etc. Only downside, the hostel was fully booked and we could not extend our stay! We stayed in their sister hostel in town called riverside inn which was ok, not as clean or secure as lakeside. less

Staff Mr. Jo and Jeannie were both very helpful in informing me about Guilin, and they both speak English extraordinarily well. Stayed for one full week. Unless on the tightest of budgets, I suggest you choose a private room with bathroom, as the shared bathroom is not great (squat toilet with shower much too close to the toilet), and the price for a private room is not too much more. Overall, excellent value for the room you get here. Would definitely stay again! less

This place is a great stopping point to go to Yangshou. The airport shuttle stops realitively nearby which is also right by the train station too. So they are both walkable. But the common area isn't that great and the staff was helpful but not very fun. All in all if its a stopover then this would be good otherwise if you were sticking around then I'd pick elsewehere less

This hostel is in an exellent location and for the price is very reasonable. Not the worst hostle i have stayed in. I imagine that in the summer time that this place would be jumping with backpackers. i arrived into guilin around 11:30 pm from xian and didnt find the hotel until about 12.they gave me a room on the street and it was very noisy(but clean) and i couldnt sleep.i asked for a different room and they gave me room 302 and it was COVERED in black mold.i said i needed a different room and she said i should go to another hotel.it was 1 am by now so i just took the 1st room and tried to sleep.this is the 1st bad place i have been at in china in 7 weeks. i would not go back here again. lessmightywinks4958 (Novice Nomad from England), October 2009:
