Great trip. The lady who checked us in upon our arrival was excellent. I think her name was Tanya. She gave us good advice about Hamburg and sorted us out with a different room after some of out original party couldnt make it and it meant that there was only four of us. Perfect for a night out too, as not far from Reeperbahn (although we were there for the bars not the strippers!)
My only suggestion is that you check for Sankt Pauli home games, It wasnt a problem for us, but i could see it being rather rowdy with the fans as it is a stone's throw from the stadium.
there were some rowdy guys above us, but it was the weekend...wasn't a bother really!

Our stay in Hotel Stephan was very pleasant. Cosey and clean, the hotel offers its guests a pleasant place to relax. I was particularly happy with its location as it is in walking distance of the Elbe and the impressive harbour.
The nights were hotter than we had anticipated: duvets are just too much in summer time. less

TV in room was nice, but in black & white. Didn\'t offer any information on Hamburg, had to request a map of the city even. less

This is a good hostel with affordable double rooms in a great location. (Well I think the Reeperbahn is a bit overrated but still a good location and nightlife.) The staff is a bit clueless, but they are open all night long.
My only complaint is check-out is at 10am and check-in at 4pm. We were forced to change rooms the 2nd night so we had to put our stuff in the luggage room or behind the desk.
