I'm very pleased with the good service the Backpacker Ritz provided over e-mail before we arrived at the hostel, booking of bustickets, meet and greet transfer from airport to hostel, what to do in J-burg etc. Nice personnel at the hostel as well. Annika, Sweden. less

The fun must be up to you. I just need a nice and quiet place for a few days, and that was no problem. Location, I think was also good, you can get transport very easy on Diggers, and for a little money. I think all the staff was exelent, up and down like anybody else, but always helpfull.
A little fix up cut do, but maybe not easy with all this people comming and going. I dont mind to come back.
Thank you for some good days. less

We thought that the staff were very rude, they had to be prompted to show us to our room which was neither comfortable nor clean. The bedding had a malaria tablet under the duvet, so obviously had not been changed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable as was so hard and squeaky. Having spent over 3 weeks in SA all in hostels, this was by far the worst yet and to top it off when we checked out the man on reception literally took the key from us and walked away without thank you or goodbye. less

There is NO free pick up from the airport, it cost me 200 rand to get to the hostel and 150 to go to the airport. Internet doesn't work and the day I had to leave no one from the staff was working so I was locked inside. Hopefully an other traveler called the Hostel they have in Pretoria and they sent someone to pick me up and let me go. Oh! They don't have a public phone also...so if there isn't anyone else there you might miss your flight... from experience I barely made it to the airport. less
