this is my second stay at this hostel and i must say that it was just as enjoyable as the previous time. the staff is very kind and accomodating; the rooms are clean (though they were a bit stuffy and warm); and the breakfast is good. we were unfortunate to have loud neighbors this time around and i wish the staff would've done something regarding the noise, but otherwise we were fairly pleased with our stay! i would most definitely recommend... less

Spotless and comfortable, would definitely recommend to others.
Points to improve - the squeaky beds and doors. Also there was a fire alarm during my stay and there was complete confusion as to whether it was a false alarm. As such, many people just stayed in bed. Had it been a real fire, the lack of coordination, and slow response, would have meant precious time would have been lost. I feel fire safety procedures need to be reviewed.
i enjoyed my stay at AJ and its excellent location. less

This Hostel has an excellent location, right on Gran Via, a minute up the road from Plaza D'Espana. If you're looking for a good place to stay for a couple nights you can't go wrong. It's very easy to find and convenient. If I was travelling alone I probably wouldn't stay here as it wasn't a very sociable hostel compared to some other really highly rated hostels around Spain and Europe. less

I loved MuchoMadrid! Although they didn't speak much English, if at all, they were super nice and more than willing to help you out with whatever you needed. The bathrooms were nice and clean and I would say the only downside was that it was a bit noisy from the traffic down below...but it is just such a good/popular location that it was worth it. I would definitely go back there. less

Did the pub crawl with the other residents and had a lot of fun!! All staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast was simple but good. Rooms clean and bathrooms too; showers worked great. Location made it really easy to walk to everything. This hostel was recommended to me by a friend, and I will gladly recommend it to anyone! less

Stay somewhere else. On the 2nd day of my stay the shower was ice cold. The showers are undivided and small so you could be sharing a very small area with two other people while showering. The bathrooms are not well kept. The internet cut out every two minutes and was therefore unusable to look up travels tips from Wikitravel. The plaza outside the hostel is full of drunk 15 year olds almost every night. less

I stayed twice at Los Amigos...What can I say? 2 minutes walking from Plaza de Sol, once you leave the hostel, you can take Metro in seconds. The hostel is clean, no noise in the night, free breakfast but you have to pay for Internet. Staff is helpul, ask for pub crawl night or other events. Very good hostel!! less

Cat's Hostel is a good hostel that I would definitely consider staying at again. My main criticism is of the female receptionist who I found to be very rude and offensive. The room itself was great -- clean, and our twin had a nice ensuite (even nicer than the room itself). There was construction going on in the building, which in general didn't affect the rooms, but started LOUDLY at 8am just on the other side of our wall, and dust filtered in all over one corner of the room. There isn't much of a common area -- just a kitchen. Good location. less
