Matt & Maria are a wonderful couple and nothing was to much for them. They keep the hostel immaculate and its location is excellent - a few steps from the old town. Matt & Maria own the hostel so give attention to every detail. They have information about any trips you could want to take and are extremely helpful. They offer the best of both worlds as Maria is Ecuadorian & Matt Australian. The Hostel is a lot of fun & it was like being in a big family with a great atmosphere. Highly Recommended! less

Compiling a list of tours / operators recommended by previous guests would be great as for "Quito virgins" it is a bit difficult to make their way to the other part of town first where all the travel agencies are and then do all the legwork re inquiring about tours...obviously every single person needing to start from scratch.
Such a list would would not only help big time - but save heaps of it, too!!

The Secret Garden was a great hostel but considering it was number one in Ecuador it did have some pretty negative points. The staff were really unhelpful when i arrived and the volunteers that pretty much ran the place were clearly not briefed as they new nothing... making my initial experience not a good one! Front dorm is really noisy from people coming and going and the hot water broke when i was there. But dinners on the terrace were awesome with wicked views of Quito!! less

Really grest hostel, location is in the old town it is very easy to get into the City. Airport pick-up was brilliant, our flight was delayed and they still waited for us. Breakfast was an extra $3 but well worth it, lovely fresh fuite salad, and great scrammbled eggs! Has a the most amazing views over Quito old town. We loved it so much we are going back at the end of the week! less

Great location between Historic district and Mariscal Sucre (nightlife), unfortunately the neighborhood is very noisy at night and the buses rumbling by inches from building can be felt in your room. The rooftop as a great view of city (especially La Basilica) but needs some 'touches.' Four days into my stay and I was still finding long hairs on the floor (I'm bald). less
