Federico rocks. He is a wonderful host, well-informed about San Jose and can answer your every question. His house is charming, warm, cozy and makes you feel like you're back home with family staying in your own room. Located right at the tranquil Parque Nacional, you can sit peacefully under tall trees and relax. But really, why stay here? Well, it's just plain one of the best places to hang your hat while in San Jose. less

The staff especially the owner is very enthustiastic about having you there and helping you out on your trip. Great base camp for the many trips back through the city. Cervezas are sold there cheap and can be put on your tab for convenience. Great for a guy like me who was winging a trip and new little spanish. less

Great hostel experience. They were happy to respond to the large amount of questions we asked on a daily basis. Only complaint would be having to pay for towels, although not expensive, Why not just include that expense in the price. But overall, I would highly reccomend this hostel, it is a great value! less

Most of the hostel is actually under renovation and appears like a building site. It fronts the Avenida Central with heavy traffic the whole night. I had booked a twin without bathroom and got a room with two bunk beds, no table, no chair. There were no sheets to cover the blankets. The good: Free internet; a supermarket and a shopping center with food court near by, 5 to 10 minutes on foot. less
