This is not a hostel - it's a hotel. If you're a single traveller, it doesn't really present any opportunity to meet people. There is a bar, but it's real sterile and I didn't bother.
The rooms are fine, clean and comfortable. And the only worker who spoke english to some standard was kinda cute, so that's a small bonus!
TIP: If you're looking up train times, you want to go to Balatonszeplak felso. Cross the tracks when you get there and the hotel is diagonally to your right. lessMichal (from Poland), August 2007:

Place was easy enough to find & not in a terrible location, but the rooms & restrooms were filthy & run down. Bathrooms horrible - toilets & floors were never clean, the doors and lights were broken, and there were dead bugs everywhere. Showers were cleaner, but fixtures busted. Broken lights and fixtures in bathroom & guest room.
The staff wasn't particularly friendly unless you spoke Hungarian (btw, the default foreign language in Balaton seems to be German, not English) but were otherwise ok.
I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anybody not on a serious budget, and even then I'm sure you could find vacation homes or other much better accomodation for a similar price. Try other areas around Balaton, or skip it altogether for Budapest & spots in between. lessUna (from Ireland), August 2007:
