Rahul Guest House is a great place because:
1 - Its Clean. The rooms, the sheets, the loos, the corridoors, the terrace.. everything is clean
2 - There is no problem abt hot water or electricity (as there is an alternative arrangement)
3 - The place is a 10 min walk from the Assi Ghat and in the next 4 - 6 months this is likely to get better thanks to a water purification device being installed

Dr. Papu is an excellent house and you really feel like home! rooms are great (Clean, safe and quiet) the location is also the best in Varanasi, close to the main spots but away from the touts and annoying stuff. Tip: Accept the airport pickup! is the best way to get into the city without paying extra to rickshaws and taxis. Too much money for what you get, but good experience with family. Tripti has nice clothes for sale. Bring mosquito net or use All-Out. less

Yes burning bodies along the river are the order of the day. Then again you not get that veiw anywhere else in the world, therefore I rated the location as excellent. Rooms are large, each have little balcony very good for India budget hotel. Very good value for money even out of the mouth of our friends who live in Varanasi. Centrally situated along the river with easy access to all ghats by boatmen waiting at your ghat. less
