It would be ok if not for the rudeness of some staff. HI supposedly foster international relationships and cultural understanding, in fact am left with the impression of Washington as unfriendly with relatively rude people!
HI also charge a $4 fee for storing luggage- but my locker had been unlocked by staff when I returned- so I wonder what the $4 was for?
On a more positive note the activities and location were good. However on balance I do not really reccommend this hostel. less

Our stay was very short, however, it was a great experince. If you come to this hostel I would recomend you spend a little extra and stay in the private room. Huge TV, nice clean bathroom, and extremelly comfortable!!! Staff was beyond amazing to us, and we are very thankful for the amazing night of sleep we had!... Location is really nice, near subway, and buses. We loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you sooo much Mr. Boston, you have no idea how bad we needed a nice bed and nice people like you. less

Fantastic good location near public transportation hubs and grocery stores and tourist sites and very good vibes. Great staff and guests -very warm and helpful. Facilities are very good - big kitchen and lot of places to relax and be social or chill. Need to do a wee bit better on daily bathroom cleans. less

Next door is a simple chinese restaurant, and the supermarket a few blocks away with a walking distance. Washington DC is a government city not a business city like New York City. Cordellia is a very well educated professional family woman with life experience advising you for the essentials you want to know. No worries! less

My apartment flooded.The staff was extraordinarily helpful, excellent service; they put us up in one of their dorm rooms and since it was the off-season and we had work, they switched things around to ensure we had the dorm to ourselves. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms/showers were immaculate. Clean linens/blankets in the closet.Fill yourself w/toast & tea each morning. 18th st. is best bar scene in the city. lots of restaurants, fifteen minute walk to 2 metro stations.
