Sitges is a sun-drenched coastal town in Spain's Catalonia region. It's fringed by sandy beaches on one side and the rugged mountains of the Garraf Massif on the other, making for some truly incredible scenery. Sitges offers a taste of both traditional and modern Catalonia, with its historic streets playing host to lively LGBT-friendly nightlife. Visitors can admire the charms of its picturesque old town, sip sangria on the promenade or head out to explore the surrounding parklands.

Hostels in Sitges include a family-run beach house with colourful rooms, as well as a modern villa adorned with an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures. Some hostels have outdoor hammocks and rooftop terraces where you can read and relax. Most Sitges hostels have free Wi-Fi, so you can upload those selfie snaps. Look out for a stay with a complimentary hot breakfast or a shared kitchen.

There are several districts to explore in Sitges. For sea views, head to the Aiguadolç marina, where you can spend a lazy afternoon watching the boats bobbing on the water. Playa de San Sebastián is a beach neighbourhood that's especially popular with the locals. Here, you'll find numerous bars and restaurants along the boardwalk. Downtown Sitges is the place to be for museums, while La Bòvila to the north has handy shops such as supermarkets and pharmacies.

Playa de la Bassa Rodona and Playa de San Sebastián are among the most popular beaches in Sitges. Another top spot is the Passeig Marítim promenade, which is brimming with cafés and restaurants. To learn more about Spain's art scene, you can visit the Cau Ferrat Museum, which is dedicated to the artist and writer Santiago Rusiñol, one of the most important figures of Catalan modernism. For Sitges-style partying, the main square of Plaça Cap de la Vila is home to plenty of buzzing bars.
