About Hotel Patrick

Hotel Patrick & Paddy's Bar and Restaurant
(English and Spanish spoken)

The town of Juan Griego is the backpacker's best kept secret on Margarita Island! You will never see sunsets more beautiful than here.

Hotel Patrick is a posada (hostel) run by Michael - an Irish musician and film-maker - and his beautiful Venezuelan wife, Odalis. They do everything they can to ensure that you have a great holiday in their pretty, friendly and laid-back property. The hotel is just 20 meters from the sea, only 2 minutes walk from the town centre shops and it has a lush tropical garden. Most guests refer to it as `a home away from home`, and many independent travellers stay for much longer than they originally planned, preferring to be based in Juan Griego rather than the more tourist Playa el Agua area
.
The Hotel has 9 double rooms (2 with two single beds) and 1 two-room 'family suite' with one single and two double beds suitable for up to 5 people. The four rooms on the 'top deck' have sea views from the balcony and the 5 lower deck rooms are situated beside the tropical garden. All the rooms have a bathroom with a shower (with hot water) and toilet and are cleaned every day. 7 of the rooms have air conditioning while the other 3 rooms have an electric fan. The hotel has 24-hour security on-site.

Paddy's Bar and Restaurant
The bar is open from 11am - 11pm on weekdays and 11am-1am on Fridays and Saturdays. As well as enjoying an ice-cold Polar beer or cocktails such as a Margarita, a Caipirinha or a Cuba Libre (Venezuelan rum with Coca Cola) you can also play pool for free. The Restaurant is open for healthy breakfasts (fresh tropical fruit, muesli, ham and eggs, fruit juice) and filling evening meals (fresh fish a speciality) at very reasonable prices, There is a chill-out space where you can read a book from our multi-language library, watch a DVD or use our free PC with its broadband connection to access the internet. If you have your own computer with you, you can also get on the internet via our free Wifi access. There is a discotheque in front of the hotel (open Friday and Saturday) and a late-night bar just across the street for those people who want to keep the party going. There is also a laundry, a bakery and a supermarket within 2 minutes walk of the posada.

We can help you to book sightseeing trips: swimming with dolphins, learning how to sail a yacht, jeep safaris around the island, snorkelling and scuba, trips to the aqua parks, an Amazon trip to the mainland to see Angel Falls, visits to the Orinoco Delta, treks to Roraima or a trip to the Caribbean paradise of Los Roques. Just ask at the bar.

The Town of Juan Griego
Juan Griego is a small fishing town set in a sweeping bay in the northwest of Margarita Island, situated close to the beautiful Playa Caribe (Caribe Beach), the best beach on the island. Juan Griego is probably the most relaxed and friendly town in Margarita, with many shops offering Duty Free goods at excellent prices. You can sit on the beach under the palm trees at one of the many restaurants offering local food (especially fresh sea food) and watch the sun setting over the sea, a sight which really is breath-taking. Just 5 minutes walk from the Hotel Patrick and set on a headland offering amazing views of the town and the sea is a local monument known as the Fortin, marking the spot where local people, aided by British and Irish revolutionary volunteers, bravely fought the Spanish in Venezuela's struggle for independence in the early 1800s - the proudest moment in the town's long history.
