About Oasis Hostel
The real deal.
This family-run, truly Mexican hostel was the original backpackers' haunt in Puerto Vallarta until recently. What sets it apart from its imitators is its location, its personal touch and its attitude.
Oasis Hostel is designed for people who want to get away from the big American chains and the tacky tourist circus. It's not right in the center, it's a 15-20 minute walk away (5 minutes on the bus) in the Old Vallarta, where (much to some tourists' horror!) you *will* meet locals and you *will* see a little bit of real Mexican life! Oasis is about community - it's run by a Mexican family who treat the hostel not as a business, but as an opportunity to bring people together from across the world in the search of new experiences.
Oasis is great value for money, but it's not just a cheap place to stay. People come here for a couple of days and find themselves staying for a couple of weeks or more, volunteering with Mexican kids, learning some Spanish,
making film projects or painting VW campervans in Oasis style with the help of all the local barrio...(check out our photos on Facebook)
They are treated as part of the family, which is why so many of them come back. Yes, you will get a tan here; yes, you will most likely get drunk; but at Oasis - unlike anywhere else you can stay in Puerto Vallarta - you will also get genuine warmth, the chance to get involved in something real and perhaps, most importantly, some great memories to take away with you that will stay with you for years to come...
