Yesterday, after watching Andy Murray get beaten in the Australian Open Final (I wanted him to win), I had an extremely enjoyable afternoon. This was because of two places I visited that I won’t forget for a very long time. I must add that I couldn’t have done it without the help of Brendan from The Backpack where I’m staying here in Cape Town.
The first of the two places was Table View Beach. It gets its name because of the view of Table…you get it. The view of ‘the mountain’ (that’s what most people call Table Mountain here I’ve noticed) really is breathtaking. You’ll see it in my video when it’s finished.
The second place was a township called Guguletu. It’s about 15km outside Cape Town on Sunday means one thing to its residents – PARTY! There must’ve been around 3,000 people on the streets drinking, eating, dancing, and generally having a good time. Myself and Brendan were in the thick of it all. We were also one of approximately 15 white people out there. And do you know what? Nobody batted an eyelid.
Tonight I’m going to what’s seen as something of an institution here in Cape Town – Sunday evenings in La Med.
