1. A long day trekking

   I'm feeling quite happy with myself have to say. Today I started hiking at 8am. The views along the way are spectacular. It was tough in places, but nothing too strenuous. Along the way we passed through valleys with breathtaking scenery and more.

2. Lovely, lovely hot springs

   Do you ever feel tired and not feel like making the effort to do something? This evening I felt like that. Part of the agenda was visiting the hot springs in Santa Teresa but by 8pm and after something to eat I wasn't really in the mood.

3. Day 1 of the trek - cycling down mountains

   I am now in a small town called Santa Teresa and have just finished the first part of a 3-day tour. There really isn't a whole lot here other than a few hostels and a couple of restaurants. It's a 'one-horse town' in every sense.

5. Cusco - definitely a party town

   Make no mistake about it - if you're one who wants to party and you're planning on visiting Peru, visit Cusco. Chances are you will be anyway to go to Machu Picchu, but think about putting by a couple of days just to recovering from the night before.</

   In comparison to Lima, Cusco is a quiet city. But as it's a popular spot on the backpacker trail and is full of hostels. This is all because it's the base point for the Inca Trail and other treks to Machu Picchu.
