When you use social media quite a bit, something which we do, you have to keep up with the times. Every week you read about a new social network or new functionality with existing ones. One of the newest features to come of the social media world recently is ‘Google Hangouts’ – video chats with up to nine people that can also be watched by others, making them extremely interactive.

As well as writing posts for our own blog, part of my job is working with the world’s top independent travel bloggers and writers. And thanks to Twitter and attending different events, I’ve been lucky enough to have met many of them over the last few years. One of these is Brendan van Son of Brendansadventures.com who I met in Dublin last year. Brendan’s site is one of my favourite travel sites for many reasons – he likes getting off the beaten track, he’s good at telling stories plus he’s an incredible photographer. Welcome to Copenhagen. It's an incredible city full of wonderful side streets, cosy cafés and ridiculously overpriced meals. With the typical pay for a coffee shop job starting at about 110 DKK (€14.75/$20) an hour, it's not so much that things are expensive relative to the economy, it's just that the rest of us don't get paid in Danish Kroner. Let's face it, when a medium Big Mac meal costs 53 DKK and a Cheeseburger costs 10 DKK, you know your budget is in trouble.
