  1. Ash cloud competition winners announced!

    When news of the ash cloud first broke, Hostelworld.com ran a competition to help ease the travel woes of some of our customers.

    Every booking affected by the ash cloud was entered into a draw for an iPod touch. We gave away five iPods in total, one a day between April 24th and 28th.

    The lucky winners were: Audrey Berthe, Kathleen O'Neil, Martin Winkler, Emma Allen and David Cada.

    Martin Winkler had this to say: "I'm so happy to hear this, I never won anything before in my life! Thank you very, very much! I really appreciate this idea of making a prize for all those people that had problems because of the volcanic eruptions! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

    With the volcanic ash cloud grounding flights out of Dublin this morning, the Eyjafjallajokul volcano is still causing problems for travellers.
