At Hatters Hostel, I arranged to go on the Beatles Fab Four Taxi Tour, an amazingly detailed exploration of all things Beatles here in Liverpool.
You take the tour in one of the city’s iconic taxis and it lasts around 3 hours. 5 people can take the tour and it costs £50 in total. I’d definitely recommend it, so make 4 friends wherever you’re staying and then hop it. Works out pretty reasonable, especially considering how much you see over the course of the tour.
My guide and driver was Alan and he seriously knew his stuff! He was full of great anecdotes about John, Paul, George and Ringo. Also, I really approve of a) his favourite Beatle (Paul!) and b) many of his favourite Beatles tracks (he played ‘Here comes the sun’ on the way back to the hostel and that’s probably my all time favourite song by the band).
We took in a huge number of sites on the tour – where all the guys were born, their childhood homes, Penny Lane, the place where John and Paul were first introduced to each other, Strawberry Fields and so much more. Plus, when we got to each place we were able to get out of the taxi, have a wander around and have a chat.
I am so glad I got to take this tour. I’m a big Beatles fan and it was just incredible to see so many historic places in the band’s history. A must for any Beatles fan visiting Liverpool!
