I landed in Pisa last night and made my way to the Central Station guesthouse, which is where I'll be staying until I fly back to Dublin on Saturday. As you can see from the picture here, I have a very nice room!
Today, I wandered along Corso Italia, across the Ponte di Mezzo and made my way towards the Field of Miracles. There are so many cool things to see here, it takes most of the day. What with the Leaning Tower, the Baptistery (where every half hour you'll get to hear a brilliant demonstration of the building's awesome acoustics), the Cathedral and more. The Leaning Tower is just like I thought it would be, just like it's pictured here, and it's pretty cool to wander around and see it from all sides and angles. Huge crowds of people there today and the weather was really beautiful.
Had lunch on one of the side streets just off the big square, and from my table I could still see some of the Cathedral. Probably fitting then that the restaurant was called Ristorante Duomo. (Duomo means cathedral in Italian.)
Apparently there's a great pizzeria close to the central station and not too far from where I'm staying so I'm going to check that out in a wee while and see if I can get myself some dinner! Hope the weather stays like this for the rest of the week because it really is beautiful!
