The rain finally stopped just before sunset here in Quebec City, allowing for some pretty gorgeous colours in the sky and some great light for pictures.
I was definitely glad for the drier weather as I walked from the HI-Quebec to Saint Roch, an up and coming part of the city. Go for a stroll along St. Joseph Street and you’ll find numerous stores from well-known brand names to funky local shops.
This area also plays host to some great bars including Boudoir on Rue du Parvis. The interior is very plush and chic, and the bar serves up an amazing selection of multi-coloured cocktails at very reasonable prices. There’s also a disco downstairs. Tonight there was live jazz in the bar because the city’s Jazz Festival has just started. It had a great atmosphere and the staff members I talked to were really welcoming and friendly.
From there I made my way back to the stretch of Rue Saint Jean you’ll find outside the old city walls. Along with a really interesting array of shops, this street is home to numerous bars and restaurants.
One of the bars that really stands out is the Sacrilège. It was packed tonight and the crowd was really lively. There was a great mix of ages and it seems to be a hugely popular spot with locals. What’s really cool about this bar is the terrace out back where you can sit and enjoy one of the many, many drinks served up at the bar.
Then it was on to take some night shots. I made my way back through Old Quebec and ended up where I’d started the day at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. As you can see from this picture here, it was a very nice night in Quebec City.
