If you’re looking for free things to do in Melbourne, you should look no further than Federation Square, better known as Fed Square. Located across the road from the city’s best-known landmark, Flinders Street Station, you could spend hours, if not a full day here.
For a start, there’s free WiFi throughout the square. At any given time you’ll see people browsing on their iPhones or laptops. If you need to send emails, and you want to send them while checking out a top attraction, this is where to do it.
Free internet connections aside, there are also two main cultural centres here. The first is the National Gallery of Victoria Australia. One of two NGVs, this one is dedicated solely to works by Australian artists.
The other centre, and arguably more engaging, is the National Centre of Moving Art. This is a hands on museum, focusing on everything from the emergence of the internet to the introduction of video games.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
