    1. Starbucks, various locations

    Like them or loath them, the fact that this omnipresent chain of cafés now offers free WiFi is an incentive to pop in. As there's no password, if you just need to make a quick Skype call home from your iPhone, you can always just stand outside and pick it up for the duration of your call.

    2. Branko's Sandwich Sthop, 1118 West Fullerton Ave., Lincoln Park
    The sandwiches in this Lincoln Park are enormous. You simply won't leave hungry after one. You may have to wait in line for a while to get one, but it will be ultimately worth it. And yes, they offer free WiFi also.

    3. Shenanigan's House of Beers, 16 W. Division Street, Near North
    Things can get pretty wild in this bar after a certain hour and at weekends, so bringing your laptop to browse for free might not be a good choice. But if you're on a smarthphone, keep in mind that the WiFi won't cost a cent.

    4. Cafecito, 26 East Congress Parkway, South Loop
    If you find a better Cuban sandwich in Chicago, let us know here at Hostelworld.com, because we certainly couldn't. Located beside one of the city's most popular hostels, along with a varied selection of sandwiches, you can also get coffee too to enjoy while you browse for free.

    Thanks to a wide range of breads and cakes to choose from, and extremely friendly staff, panera is a great place to have breakfast or lunch while surfing on your laptop for free.

    6. Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, vaious locations
    You may not be a fan of chains, and here at Hostelworld.com we try to promote the smaller independent restaurants, but sandwiches in Jimmy John's are good. It's that simple. Free WiFi of course is an added bonus.

    7. Skewerz, 1560 N Damen Ave, Wicker Park
    If you like your food on a stick then you'll like it here. If you like your WiFi free then you'll like it even more.

    8. Blue Line Lounge and Grill, 1548 N Damen Ave, Wicker Park
    Opened in 2002 and located directly under the Damen Blue Line CTA 'L' stop in Wicker Park, this bar and restaurant resembles a train car from teh 50's. So if you ever wanted to know what browsing the internet for free way back then was like, make your way here.
    Open Mon-Thurs 5pm-2am, Fri 11am-2am, Sat & Sun 9am-2am.

    9. Cosi, various location
    Popular for sandwiches and salads, it can get very busy in this chain during lunch hour. But leave it till after the rush and you can enjoy enormous and very tasty salads while browsing for free.

    10. Lou Malnati's, various locations
    Part of a trip to Chicago is a deep dish pizza. The only thing is they aren't particularly healthy. So if you wan to see exactly how much weight you've put on after eating one, you can look it up for free in this popular pizza chain.
