Discovering local foods on the road - the next 'Hostelworld Hangout' topic

    Mar202013

There are many ways to embrace the local culture when travelling. You can meet the people, explore different neighbourhoods, see the sights and more. Another is food - if you eat live how the locals live and experience a destination the same way they do you have to try the local food. Somebody who knows this all too well is Jodi Ettenberg of LegalNomads.com - that's why I'm looking forward to discussing the topic with her on the next Hostelworld Hangout which takes place later today at 12.15pm EST/4.15pm GMT.

Shrove (pancake) Tuesday – a recipe to try

    Feb122013

Today is the day before Ash Wednesday which makes it Shrove Tuesday aka…Pancake Tuesday! It’s the one day of the year when people all over the world (maybe not so much in America since the Americans eat pancakes the whole time) dig into pancakes. If you fancy making some, here’s our basic recipe…

Our 10 most popular Instagram photos of 2012

    Jan232013

Popular with travellers, fashionistas, people obsessed with taking pictures of their 'tall skinny caps' and lots of other people, Instagram became one of the world's most popular social networks in 2012. Like many others, we became big fans of the photo-sharing network in 2012, and now share images daily via our account. A mix of photos taken with our iPhone on our travels, and others taken on previous trips with our trustworthy Canon 1000D, they're from destinations all around the world. Here are the ten most popular from 2012...

    Jan152013

Every twelve months at the beginning of the calendar year I take a look at what cities are going to be the ones to watch for that year. This is based on different things – events taking place, personal experiences, where our customers are booking and more. So here’s where I think will be hot in 2013…

    Explore Great Britain

    Nov162012

I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world with my job. In the last three years I’ve been to every continent other than Antarctica. Most recently was a trip to London. It was over there that it dawned upon me – as much as I love faraway destinations like Thailand, Argentina and Australia, one of the world’s most breathtaking regions is practically on my doorstep – Great Britain. That’s why it gives me so much pleasure to announce our new partnership with VisitBritain. Now I get to share everything I love about Great Britain through our videos, free pocket guides, features and more.

Live the Bond lifestyle on a budget

    Oct182012

Bond is always on the move and over the years has racked up quite a number of stamps on the many passports he owns. However, no Bond film is complete without a few adventures in his native land and throughout 23 films, including the latest release ‘Skyfall’, James Bond has experienced many shootouts, car chases and encounters with beautiful women around the UK.
