Have you ever had the urge to throw a juicy, squishy tomato right in your friend’s face? Well if you take them to Spain for the last Wednesday in August you can do just that and not get in to trouble for it... just make sure you’re in Buñol when you throw it, because you won’t get away with doing it in Barcelona or Madrid.

The Olympics may just have finished, and favourites like the St Patrick's Day in Ireland and Queen's Day in the Netherlands may have taken place earlier in the year, but this doesn't mean all the main events of the year are behind us...far from it! Last month I found myself in Rome with four hours to spare. I arrived at 2pm and was leaving for the aiport at 6pm. I decided that since we've lots of hostels in Rome, I would call into one of them (M&J Hostel to see the manager Mario) before embarking on a whirlwind tour of downtown Rome, taking in as much sights as possible.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, or The Central Weekend as it is also known, takes place across the UK from June 2nd to 5th 2012. This weekend is to mark 60 years of The Queen’s reign and there will be many events and parties to celebrate Jubilee Weekend, particularly in London. It’s also a four day weekend in the UK as the May Bank Holiday is being moved a week forward for the Jubilee holiday.
