The beginning of a cycle from Paris to Nice...all in aid of a good cause

    Sep232011

Over those six days they will leave Paris before stopping in Sens, Avallon, Beaune, Orange, Aix-en-Provence, Draguignan, and finally Nice.

The Khao San Road - the backpacker capital of the universe

I love Bangkok. I love it for many reasons. It has an energy that many cities in the world can only dream of. It’s got some of the friendliest people you will find anywhere in the world. It’s great for shopping too. Plus, it’s also got the only street in the world that is frequented by backpackers and backpackers only – the Khao San Road.

After 3 and a half years travelling with Hostelworld, these are my favourites…

    Jul282011

After three and half years of working for Hostelworld.com, I’m heading off on a wee trip. This time next month, I shall be winging my way to Singapore and from there I’ll be heading to New Zealand, where I’ll be living in Dunedin for a year. For my last post, Colm asked me to talk about some of my favourite things from the last few years. So, here goes...

This isn’t a bad thing of course – you get to see much more this way than by using public transport. Some of my favourite walks are in the UK, and in this weekend’s Telegraph newspaper there’s a free supplement outlining fifty of the best ones.

Free days announced for many of Ireland's top attractions

One thing I love about Paris is that, if you plan your trip around the first Sunday of the month, you'll save yourself a lot of money as all the main museums are free. This includes the Louvre and Museé d'Orsay. Thankfully, a similar initiative began in Ireland yesterday as, as of from Wednesday July 6th, all heritage sites managed by the Office of Public Works are free on the first Wednesday of the month.
