Seen as the ‘backpacker capital of the universe’, Bangkok’s infamous Khao San Road is a street that doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘sleep’. At 11pm the length of Khao San seethes with bodies. Scooters weave amongst them, and the smell of fried garlic and chilli, petrol and sweat emanates from every corner. It’s hectic, hedonistic and loud, but I loved it. It may not be off the beaten track, but it’s a track that’s hard to beat.

Inter railing around Europe was a life-changing experience. I found it to be like a sort of traveller’s Pandora Box with a colourful array of different and notable things contained within – attractions, restaurants, tours, parks, museums and sights all for you to experience and explore. Like in the Pandora’s Box myth however, there is an important cautionary element to note in relation to such a trip. It would be unwise not to think and plan before considering such a holiday, and I learnt there are some very practical dos and don’ts with journeys like this. But using my top ten tips, your European inter rail trip should flow that little bit smoother...

I fell in love with Europe when I backpacked through the continent in 2006. It fascinated me - the food, the buildings, the cafe culture, the cheap wine and beer...it was exciting, full of history, and breathtaking. I've gone back every year since.

London is an expensive city. Everything from accommodation to transportation comes with a high price tag. That’s to say nothing of food, where even a small meal can cost a small fortune. But there are a number of restaurants in London that serve great food at reasonable prices, and they’re not hard to find. Some are independent eateries, others are chain restaurants, and all worth a visit when you are in London.
