1. Has your booking been affected by the volcano ash?

   Has your Hostelworld.com booking affected by the volcano ash that managed to drift all the way from Iceland to Europe and cause mayhem? If so, here's the deal...

   First of all the serious stuff - if you made a booking that was affected and bought cancellation protection you won't lose your deposit. For bookings that were affected that were without cancellation protection, we're working on these on a case-by-case basis. You'll find more information on our page dedicated to those affected by the disruption.

   But now for the better news - if you made a booking that was affected by Eyjafjallajokull Volcano in Iceland then you've been entered into a draw for an iPod touch! We're giving away five of them and the daily draws will take place every day between April 24th and April 28th (inclusive).

   So if your booking was affected, it might not all be bad news - good luck!

   “ My daughter booked with Hostels.com in Pisa, Italy for 4/16 and 4/17 and didn't take out travel insurance because she didn't think she needed to. As soon as she heard that her flight was cancelled and airports closed, she contacted Villa Leaning Tower hostel to let them know on 4/16 in the morning. They said "ok, ok, just send an email". She did send an email immediately. Well, 4 days later they charged her $145 on top of the deposit. Reason was they couldn't sell the room to someone else. This seems so unfair as these were cirucmstances way beyond her control! I would strongly recommend NOT to ever book with Villa Leaning Tower hostel. They are crooks!!
