I’m just after having a really great day. After getting up at the extremely respectful hour of 8am, I answered a few emails, had my breakfast (porridge in case you were wondering) and met Nizaam, my tour guide for the day.
Nizaam has just set up his own tour company called Impeccable Tourism. The reason for this? It’s because his surname is Peck, a la Gregory. While you might see it as a tad cheesy, if my surname was Best, a la George (he’s a very famous footballer for you Americans, Latin Americans, Africans and Australians), I’d be tempted to call my company ‘Best Travel Guides’. Am I rambling? I think so. Oh, before I stop, I want to thank AroundAbout Cars for providing us with a car for the day. If you’re thinking of renting a car out in Cape Town, go with these guys.
Anyway, back to Nizaam. Myself and him had a fun-packed day. We went to the Kirstenbosch National Botanic Garden, the Constantia Wine Valley, Muizenburg Beach, Kalk Bay, Simons Town (there are penguins there you know) and Cape Point. Our last port of call was the Cape of Good Hope, the most South-Westerly point of the continent of Africa. The picture is of Nizaam and I there.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day. For a few reasons. Firstly, Nizaam is a really cool guy. If you’re looking for tour-guide for the day you can obtain his services via The Backpack where I’m staying. Secondly, I got sunburnt quite badly and now my face is sizzling ever so-slightly. And thirdly, I saw lots of wildlife today. I saw two penguins getting extremely amourous at one stage (they had an audience and people egging them on!), I saw a bunch of ostriches (or is that ostrich?) and I saw two troops of baboons. Now, can’t you see why I enjoyed today so much?
Now I’m going to go to an Asian restaurant around the corner from the hostel called ‘Simply Asia’. Think some Tom-Yum soup is on the cards.
