Schotia Safaris is a family run private game reserve and Malcolm once again squired us around the park while we saw animals like lions, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, warthogs, impala, crocs and much more.
Not only did we get to see a lioness and, as you can see in the picture, a pretty impressive male lion, we also went back out into the park after dinner when it got dark and saw the lions taking apart an animal they’d just killed.
There’s a great variety of animals to be seen with Schotia and it was really cool to have a guide like Malcolm who didn’t mind me asking a million and one questions about the animals. I just find it really interesting to learn as much as I can about these creatures and for anyone who’s interested in nature this is a must-do activity when visiting the area.
Highlights included the night safari, seeing a teeny terrapin hitching a ride on the back of a hippo, and watching a family of warthogs trundle around through the park.
Dinner was great too, and Malcolm even recorded a podcast interview for me about both Addo and Schotia which you’ll be able to hear soon on Hostelworld.com.
So, all in all a day very well spent. Today's looking good too, with a trip to the King’s Beach flea market first and plenty more from there.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
