Last June I visited a travel blogging conference in Keystone, Colorado. I’d never been to that part of the States before, but I’m glad that this conference triggered my first visit. It’s a stunning part of the world and, apart from feeling ill on occasion due to the elevation, I’ve only good memories of it. But prior to that, I visited New York City. I’ve never been to America and not visited NYC – I just don’t feel I’ve been to the US unless I make a quick pit stop in the Big Apple.

Last night wasn’t as hectic as Friday night, but I’d a good night all the same. I met up with my friend Joanna who works in a bar down off Wall Street – the Full Shilling. From there we went to a bar where another friend works – the Sixth Ward. It’s over on the Lower East Side.

Yesterday, after spending most of the afternoon getting footage for a new video which will be available on the site soon, I’d a great catch up with my friend. Hadn’t seen him in a long time. Really enjoyed it. We started in his bar called the Carlow on 84th and Lexington before going downtown to a bar around the 30s.

Over the last six months I’ve started to use Twitter a lot more than ever before. Both from the @hostelworld account and also from my own @colmhanratty account. Through this, I’ve got to know a few people. Last night I met them as part of a ‘tweet up’. Sounds sad I know, but it turned out to be a great night.

I arrived in New York City today. I’ve been lucky in terms of visiting there. I’ve been there pretty much every year for the last four years. Each time I try to do something new in terms of content and this time is no different. But before I got to work on that I had a meeting in MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), one of New York City’s top museums.
