In every city I visit I like to explore the different neighbourhoods. Some cities are better than others, but one city that surprised me was Athens. In particular, one neighbourhood I really enjoyed my time in was Kolonakai.
It’s completely different to the rest of the Greek capital. It’s all very swanky (for want of a better expression), with boutiques belonging to the world’s best known designers and cafes with people like the ones you see here enjoying their lattes, their cappuccinos or their frappuccinos.
Athens has unfortunately received a bit of bad press of late, but I really enjoyed it there. If you’re thinking of going we’ve got lots of hostels in Athens, while we’ve also got a podcast you can listen to and a free pocket guide as well.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
