Wild nights out aren’t the only thing you can enjoy in Hamburg, one of Germany’s most-visited spots. One of my favourite places in the city is the Tierpark Hagenbeck, where you can feed the elephants and see all kinds of cool creatures.
While most visitors to Hamburg spend a lot of time in and around the Reeperbahn, I think it’s definitely a good idea to get out and see more of the city’s great neighbourhoods. Hop on the subway and it’s just a short trip to Schanzenviertel, my favourite area in Hamburg. Filled with funky shops and cafés, this neighbourhood has a really welcoming, boho atmosphere and is a great place for a stroll or a relaxed meal. You can find out more about this and other places to check out in our free Hamburg pocket guide.
During my stay in the city, I also recorded our Hamburg podcast and filmed our Hamburg video postcard, both of which should give you plenty of ideas for what to do when you’re in town. On top of that, we’ve got lots of cool hostels in Hamburg for you to check out.
