Berlin is a great city for many reasons – it’s got lots of stories to tell, the people are friendly, and it’s got one Europe’s best city-centre parks with the Tiergarten. It’s also the perfect place to soak up culture in the museums. To make things easy for us travellers, all the main ones are found on the appropriately titled Museumsinsel, meaning ‘Museum Island’ in English.
If you’re reading this and you’re thinking of going to Berlin but museums aren’t your thing, I think you should still visit the Altes Museum. Not to go to the museum itself, but to laze in the sunshine like the people here in this photo I took when I was there. You’ll be among both tourists and locals, making it a great place to people watch.
Let us help you with your trip to Berlin. We’ve got a great selection of hostels in Berlin, while you’ll also find tips on where to eat, how to save money and more in our free pocket guide. For instance, did you know there’s a free walking tour that leaves from outside Starbucks on Unter den Linden every day? Download our guide and you’ll find this out and more.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
