One of the first things I noticed about Porto was the collection of eye-catching bridges spanning the Douro River which flows through the city. This Portuguese city is well worth a visit and while you’re there, you’ll definitely find yourself strolling along Avenida dos Aliados at some point.
If you are thinking of spending some time in Porto, don’t forget we’ve got a great selection of hostels in Porto for you to check out. It won’t be hard to find things to do while you’re there. My suggestion? Make sure you take one of the river boat tours along the Douro. It’s a great way to get a better look at the bridges I mentioned earlier, while learning some more about the city.
Another cool thing to do is sampling local cuisine like the ever-present ‘francesinha’. I have to admit that I had more than one of these filling sandwiches during my stay in Porto. You’ll find out more about other cool places to eat, along with some of my favourite bars in Porto plus lots more, in our free Porto pocket guide.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
