It’s true that winter has us in its chilly, and often uncomfortably damp, grasp. But never fear! There are things to look forward to, including the ever-popular New Year’s knees-up. This year, those planning to travel to ring in the New Year would do well to keep London in mind.
The English capital’s climate might not be balmy, but after indulging yourself at some of London’s New Year’s festivities, you won’t even notice the weather.
Events here run the gamut from the swish Harvey Nichols New Year’s Masquerade Ball to the spectacular fireworks display set to light up the River Themes as revellers ring in the New Year. Music fans are well catered for too, with shows of varying sizes taking place throughout the city. One of the bigger events is the Ministry of Sound Live at the O2 Arena, which will see current flavour of month Calvin Harris perform with a bunch of other acts.
Then, if you’re up for it after a night of partying, you can drag yourself out of your comfy hostel bed on New Year’s Day to check out London’s New Year’s Day Parade. The theme for this year’s parade is ‘Let Us Entertain You’, and with 8,000 performers taking part, it’s bound to do just that.
We still have plenty of availability in some of London’s top hostels during this period so if you fancy ringing in the New Year in London check out our London hostels here.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
