Are you aware of what a tweetup is? Probably not, although you don't need to Einstein to figure out what it is. It’s when a bunch of people who know each other or are familiar with each other through Twitter ie lots of travel bloggers, meet up in person. Last Saturday I went to the second one I’ve been to since touching down in America.
The tweetup was in a bar called Rix over in Disney’s Coronado Resort. There I met people I follow on Twitter such as @solotraveler, @jcreaturetravel, @tripatini and others. We discussed many things, one of them being how odd it was to meet people in person who you know via their Twitter 'handle' (username). But of course we spoke about how our travel blogs were doing, how we get ideas for content, how we get traffic and more.
Towards the very end of the night I met two really cool people, Stephanie and Marty, from a website called Travel Quest (@travel_quest). While we’re not really in the same travel space in terms of demographic, we had many things in common when it came to social media.
After a couple of drinks at the bar, we decided to check out one of the city’s main areas for nightlife, City Walk at Universal Studios. Here it’s simply bar after club after bar after club. Here we are in one of them. It was a good night, and always good to meet people trying to get their head around the whole social media thing.
In our hostelworld.com travel blog we bring you all the latest company news and information on new additions to the site including podcasts, videos and more. You'll also get inside information on a variety of destinations across the globe as they're visited by our travel editor and writers.
