Awarding the best hostels of 2010, the 9th Annual Hostelworld.com Hoscar Awards are taking place this Friday at a glitzy awards ceremony in London. They will be attended by over 400 hostel owners and staff from around the world, all of whom will be hoping to win a coveted Hoscar.
For those of you who have never heard of the Hostelworld.com Hoscar Awards before, here’s the lowdown…after you make a booking on Hostelworld.com you’re sent an email with the subject line ‘A penny for your thoughts’. In this email you’re asked to rate the hostel you stayed in on six different criteria – cleanliness, location, security, fun, character and staff. After you’ve rated the hostel out of 5 in each category, this goes towards the hostel’s overall rating. If you’ve left a comment that doesn’t have any swearing in it, that will be published too.
But along with going towards the hostel’s rating at the time, your vote also goes towards a count which takes place at the end of the year for the coveted Hostelworld.com Hoscar Awards, the winners of which will announced this coming Friday.
