The Roman Baths are one of the top attractions in the UK and attract huge numbers of visitors.
Constructed around the only hot mineral springs in Britain, these Baths were built by the Romans who used it as a temple where they left offerings to the goddess Sulis Minerva. But that wasn’t all they did there.
Today you can see where they took their baths, had beauty treatments, went for a sauna and plenty more. So basically, you’re talking about a Roman spa.
The stone work is incredible, especially the stone statues of guys like Caesar, Hadrian and Constantine adorning the wall looking down on the huge Great Bath which was the main bathing area.
You would not believe the amount of genuine Roman artefacts that have been found here too, plenty of which are now on display around the Baths.
One of my favourite things about the Baths was the part where you can see the hot water actually bubbling at the surface. It’s really cool, or actually, pretty hot given that the temperature of the water is around 46 degrees Celsius.
While I was there, I met with Patricia Dunlop, one of the managers. She showed me around, brought me to some great spots to film and then recorded another podcast with me.
The Roman Baths are a must while in Bath and deserve their title as one of the top attractions in the UK.
