One of the best things to do during a visit to this city is to take a trip out to the Toronto Islands like I did today. This small chain of islands is only about 10 minutes by ferry from downtown Toronto.
The ferry dropped me off on Centre Island and from there I was able to explore the other islands too. A good crowd were coming over on the regular ferry services to enjoy this beautiful sunny Saturday on the islands.
These islands are car-free but some people do still live here. Lots of people had brought their bikes over on the ferry with them, and cycling appears to be one of the most popular ways to see the islands. If you don’t have a bike already, you’ll be able to visit the rental place when you get there.
Canoeing and boating are popular activities here too, and there are beautiful stretches of sand if you fancy sunbathing or swimming.
On top of all that, you’ll get some stunning views of the Toronto skyline and also out across Lake Ontario from different points on the islands. The ferry ride over and back also affords you the opportunity to get a bit snap happy. This photo here was taken on my trip back today.
I would definitely recommend a visit to the Toronto Islands as there’s a huge amount to see and do once you get there, plus it really is a great way to get an amazing look at Toronto.
