Dan Murphy’s on the Leidseplein. It’s small but has a good atmosphere, especially in summer and when there are punk gigs on in the Melkweg, which is around the corner (literally… 30 second walk)

You will find Dan Murphy’s Irish bar in the heart of the entertainment district otherwise known as Leidseplein. You can sit inside the bar and enjoy the atmosphere or relax in the terrace at the front of the bar. You can order a selection of drinks here too.

Rock Planet, Oudezijds Voorburgwal 246! Should mention – it’s a rock bar. Nice staff, loads of rock/metal DVDs you can watch.
This is a popular rock bar that lives and breathes all things rock music. Here you will find a huge range of rock music from AC/DC to the Rolling Stones. A must for die-hard rock music fans or even if you just have a passing interest in the genre.

In de Wildeman was once a distillery but today is home to a bar with an authentic atmosphere and an impressive selection of beers both old and new. This Amsterdam bar has great character with no music being played, just locals and tourists discussing the selection of drinks on offer.

Pacific Park is a popular restaurant, bar and club all in one. Once the site of factory buildings, the area in which you will find this bar is now a heritage area.

’De Kroon’ originally got its name from the crowning of the new queen of The Netherlands and dates back to 1898. Today it is known as Cafe de Kroon and is a popular bar that still holds its old grandeur. Next door to here you will find the popular nightclub ‘Escape’.

Cafe de Sluyswacht. I saw this place on my first trip to Amsterdam years ago, but didn’t have time to go in for a drink. It was my mission to stop in next time I was back, and I did. Now I stop in every time I’m in Amsterdam.
This cafe was originally a watch-house for the lock (sluis) on the Sint Antoniesluis in 1695. Today it is a beautiful setting to sample some local cuisine and refreshments.
