In the words of David Gray...”please forgive me”. I have returned from Rio de Janeiro a week from today but still haven’t updated our blog to let you know what went on when Hostelworld got there.
When I arrived in Rio de Janeiro I felt quite poorly. I had been bitten quite badly in Iguazu and my ankle swelled up a horrible amount. So much I was walking with a slight limp. At this stage I really do hope some of you are going ‘awwww...’. If not you should be. I was suffering.
So after an afternoon down on Ipanema Beach enjoying some sunshine myself and Richie went to a local Irish pub to watch the first leg of Ireland V France. Unfortunately I only managed to stay for the first half as by this stage I was beginning to experience flu-like symptoms. Now, as you can imagine, if you have just been bitten in South America, and you start feeling like you’re coming down with a flu, you start to think a bit. “Have I got yellow fever?” popped into my brain. As did “Maybe it’s swine flu?”. Because of that I decided the best thing was to go to a doctor. So that’s just what I did.
Going to a doctor was the best thing I did. If you saw my ankle you would’ve done the same thing. I’m not sure whether to put up a photo of my ankle along with this post. It’s pretty nasty. Maybe I will. If you care to let me know whether or not you’d like to see it please comment on this post. But because of my bad luck my Saturday night finished after that visit to the doctor.
