New Year's Eve
Submitted By: colm @ 11:22 2nd Sep 05
Hi,
I was thinking of going to Edinburgh for New Year's Eve as I heard Hogmanay is a great place to ring in the New Year. Anybody have any other good ideas?

Hey, i was thinking about Scotland too for New Year's Eve but I've been trying to book something at a hostel and it's kinda hard... It is my first time in Europe, is Edinburgh a cool place to celebrate away from home??

Edin burgh is a GREAT place to celebrate the new year. I have been 2wice already, once for the millennium. I am most likely going again this year. The whole week between Xmas and new years, there seems to be events going on. there is a website, something like Edinburghshogmanay.com that can give you all the details.....

And if you can, spend a little bit of time out towards Stirling, it's not too far, and if you like outdoorsy-type hikes, scenery and Lochs without wanting to travel up the West Highland Way, it's a great place to start.

Why don't you go to Beijing of China. It spents New Year in Chinese traditional style. It is very charming and interesting. How do you think my idea?

Scotland sounds cool but I always wonder if that would be such a great New Years party place. The reason why I say that is because there always seems to be a lot of people from the UK in Amsterdam for New Years just wanting to escape the UK. (i.e. from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England) This American says it's all about Amsterdam for the New Years. The party just doesn't stop there. It goes all night long. I mean, that's where I will be this Jan 1 2006. The question is, at which Coffee shop do I want to party at? I mean there's a whole bunch to chose from. There's Rokerij, Abraxas, et al. I will most likely party hop from one to the other. Or should I go to a night club or both? Any ideas or suggestions?

Well Scotland is cold and wet over new years. I love Edinburgh but for new years I like to go to a place where ...If I have to ... I can just sleep outside. This year the full moon falls over new year and there will be a massive festival of the moon in Thailand. We are getting an air-conditioned bungalow for 10 days and its only 21 pounds for all of us a day
