Madeira not just for the wine
By shandyepee
Madeira is off the Coast of North Western Africa, it is a Portuguese Island which as well as exporting wine produces various fruits and is starting to reinvent itself as an active destination. Bike holidays, levada walking and other activities are available to try for a reasonable price.

Hogmanay in Scotland: So what is it anyway?
By rogerdodger
Hogmanay is the name of the massive party on New Year's Eve in Scotland. I celebrated Hogmanay 2007 in Glasgow Scotland. And it was the young women who wore the kilts here, not the men.

Shrooming in Amsterdam 2007
By rogerdodger

Japan by storm
By johnshedwick
Whenever I've mentioned my obsession with going to Japan everyone says "Why not Newzeland, why not Thailand". Japan offers something more interesting for the international tramper- Unrecognisable signs and culture; the perfect place for those with a passive disposition.
